The town of Turgutreis is situated at the furthest tip of the historic Bodrum Peninsula with fantastic views overlooking a horizon of ornamental islands - the sunsets here are breathtaking!
Turgutreis provides a wide choice of bars and restaurants, both local and international, and its new marina with designer boutiques sits alongside the traditional harbour with its gulets and fishing boats.
Bodrum & all other local places of interest are easily accessible from Villa Sera without the use of a car, though if required car hire is plentiful locally. A must see is the Saturday market in Turgutreis (the largest on the peninsula) which is a bright and colourful affair - be prepared to barter for all goods - it's expected & great fun!

|We spent a great week at Villa Sera in Sept 2011 as a group of 6, including a 9 month old. The villa was just as described and was of a really high standard, well equipped for cooking, and the air conditioning was very much appreciated by my dad! Sarah (the owner) arranged for the travel cot to be at the villa as it was shared between 2 villas and my little boy slept soundly in it. It was a pleasant 5 minute stroll to the beachfront and a further 5 mins into the centre of town with plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. We particularly like Anemon restaurant near the market. We had a couple of nights in at the villa and made good use of the bbq! We practically had the pool to ourselves most days and the location was very private and peaceful. We used the private taxi service provided by the local agents to take us to Bodrum for the evening which is highly recommended if you haven't been before. I have been to Turkey many times and really enjoyed my stay in Turgutreis. We like to try different resorts, but think we may have been spoilt by Villa Sera and will struggle to find anywhere as nice for such a good price. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to friends and family. Thanks for letting us stay in your lovely holiday home.
This was my third visit to Villa Sera - and was just as great as all of the other times I've visited! Key points:
- The villa is set in a small complex (only 5 villas in total) with beautiful gardens and a lovely pool. A quiet location which is great place to chill out BUT is only a 10 min stroll to the bright lights of Turgutreis!
- Villa Sera is a real home from home - clean, tidy, well equipped kitchen, barbecue, ample sunbeds and lots of storage and even a bookcase full of beach reads
- There are numerous routes from the villa into Turgutreis town - there are some maps to be found in the villa. Safe to walk around at night although take a torch as some roads aren't very well lit.
- Lots of lovely restaurants to eat at in Turgutreis and bar street is a great night out - food is very well priced although boozing can be expensive.
- Highly recommend a walk to the marina - lots of lovely shops hidden away there - particularly recommend 'Mudo' which is a little bit like a Turkih version of Zara!
- There's a lovely market on each weekend - lots of tat but great for fruit and veg and spices, well worth a look.
All in all I can't fault Villa Sera or Turgutreis as a place to stay - I shall be heading back there in 2012!!
"Had a great time. Plenty of space for the family and the pool a great asset.
Will be on the internet in the next few days looking for cheap flights back here for 2010!" ~ The Strachans, July 2009
Thankyou Sarah & Martin for the amazing villa. Turgutreis is a lovely town full of surprises, friendly people and excellent restaurants." ~ D Hough, June 2009
"Thankyou Sarah & Martin for allowing us to use your beautiful villa. We have had a fantastic time. It's been wonderful meeting up with all our old friends again." ~ B Holiday, May 2009
"Thank you so much for loaning us your wonderful villa-spacious and very well equipped. We all enjoyed our stay so much and also meeting the lovely Geoff and wife who were so helpful. Fantastic location for us as well as we like a calm resort. Even bar street seemed quite sedate!
Will certainly recommend you to any friends looking for excellent accommodation in a lovely setting." ~ C Heyes, August 2008
"Hello, Sarah! We would like to thank you very much for everything. The villa is fantastic and our holiday was perfect. We had nice time in Turgutreis and a lot of fun. Thank you again for all. We hope we will be back next year." ~ F&M Tolbaru, July 2008
"Dear Sarah, before our holiday becomes a distant memory I want to let you know that we had one of the best and most relaxing holidays ever in your villa. It is in such a quiet spot and is so cool and spacious that we loved going back to it every afternoon to sit on the shady terrace watching the swallows and to swim in the pool, which we did have almost to ourselves. All the facilities were excellent and your owner-neighbour checked everything was ok when he came for a week. Everyone in T.reis was very friendly and we enjoyed the beach and the sunsets and, apart from dolmus trips to Bodrum and to Gumusluk, we just chilled out for 2 weeks. The weather was beautiful every day and we have brought back lots of happy memories. Thank you for providing us with such a comfortable home." ~ Wendy, May 2008
"The Villa Sera is first class in every respect; well equipped and excellently placed, just outside all the hustle and bustle of busy little Turgutreis - a pleasant walk, though - or scooter ride, in our case! Akin really is a treasure as well, we couldn't have asked for a nicer person to meet. Always helpful with lots of suggestions about what to do, where to go etc, and kept in touch via text all the time. We HAD envisaged a restful week relaxing and reading, but it was full of interest and we were hardly at home, although we did manage a swim in the pool most days. We would like to thank you very much for the excellent arrangements and ease of booking - it made things simple for us when everything else was a bit hectic in our lives - and this holiday was just the tonic we needed." ~ K&J, Sept 2007
"A lovely clean and well looked after villa, with a clean and well maintained pool and gardens.
With only a short walk to the beach and nice restaurants and plenty to do in the surrounding area, we would recommend this property without hesitation." ~ The DW Family, Sept 2007
"Another fantastic holiday in Turgutreis. The villa exceeded all our expectations. Clean, comfortable, well equipped and great location. We cannot find any faults!!!! We really felt like we were staying in someone's home! Thank you, see you again, we hope!!" ~ Karen from Swindon, 26th July 2007

|The Bodrum Peninsula region|
The Bodrum Peninsula is one of the the most beautiful parts of Turkey's Aegean Coast. There are numerous small fishing villages and resorts around the coast, each with their own individual character. There's something for the whole family in Turkey, whether you want to lie on the beach, participate in water sports, or visit some of the country's impressive cultural and historical sites. Day trips include Ephesus, the largest archaelogical site in the world & the stunning pools at Pamukkale. The traditional harbour in Turgutreis provides a real treat - a range of boat trips (gulets) that visit many islands and secluded coves. Try a Turkish Hammam (steam bath) and for the young at heart Octopus (Dedeman) waterpark is only a 10 mins taxi ride.
For the more adventurous, the area has an excellent taxi/bus service called dolmus. These are reliable mini-buses and offer services all day to Bodrum & the surrounding area for around £1.50 per journey.
Gumusluk village (the lost city of Myndos) is close by and is well known for its fish restaurants - we highly recommend a visit here (journey is approx 15 mins by dolmus). You could enjoy a lazy afternoon or even catch an early evening dolmus so that you're there in time to watch one of the beautiful sunsets - the choice is yours!
