Our traditional, wooden, detached chalet, built in the local architectural style, is the ideal base for your holiday in Switzerland and offers an atmosphere of relaxation and plenty of opportunity for recreation.
The chalet is on two storeys and, as is usual for chalets, the bedrooms are on the lower floor and the living area on the upper floor. However, due to the chalet being built on a hill-side the entrance is on the upper floor.

The chalet is an ideal destination for family ski holidays. You are not stuck up a long and tortuous mountain road like many of the larger resorts, and so it is easy to go to other ski areas if you wish, or to take a day off skiing and do something different. There is plenty of skiing to suit all abilities within easy reach, as well as plenty to do for the non-skiers.In winter the area is ideal for both downhill and cross country skiing. The beginner or nursery slopes are within sight of the chalet, some 500m away. The main lift is a funicular railway and is just a further hundred metres. The skiing area in the village is from 1100m to 2000m altitude and there are eight lifts varying from T-bars, buttons and a large cable car. The 30km of pistes cater for all standards of skier from green to black runs, but with the majority being blue and red. The skiing is great for beginners and intermediates, but there is also enough to keep the more advanced skier amused for a few days.
The village is well served for winter sports, including cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, paragliding, snow boarding, and has a ski school which teaches all of these. Ski and boot hire is also available in the village.
Within a hours drive of Moléson you will be able to ski the world class resorts of Verbier, Villars, Mürren, Wengen, the White Highlands, Gstaad, Les Diablerets and Leysin, as well as many smaller, quieter ski areas such as Charmey, Les Paccots, Zweissamen, Jaunpass and Saanen.
Switzerland is such a wonderful place in summer and many people who adore it for winter sports often don’t realise it can be even more beautiful in summer.
There are so many things to do from sightseeing and cultural visits, to sailing on the lakes and walking in the mountains - even summer skiing on the glaciers.
In summer the Moleson area is renowned for its splendid walking paths, including a botanical walk especially marked for rare plants and a cheese route, visiting many of the cheese-producing farms. The main lifts and the two mountain restaurants, one with an excellent observatory, are open from mid June to mid October for those of preferring to take things a little easier.
The interspersed farms surrounding the chalet make Gruyères, Vacherin and Serac cheeses in cauldrons over open wood fires. The old farm in the heart of the village is now a traditional cheese-making centre. It opens from May to October and also has displays of local interest.
Summer sporting activities are also well supplied. In the village are floodlit tennis courts, a mini-golf course, a childrens’ play area, archery lessons, petanque, a bob-luge and grass scooters.
Trout fishing, windsurfing and pony trekking are also available locally. For the moremog-ch.jpg adventurous there is rock climbing, rafting, canyoning, paragliding and other ‘extreme’ sports.
Further information is available from the tourist office in the square. Here you’ll also find a village shop, a restaurant-cafe, pizzeria, and a ski shop.

The open plan sitting and dining area leads through large French doors onto the balcony, which wraps around three sides of the chalet but is predominately south-facing. Sunlight floods in throughout the day onto the pine dining table, and particularly at breakfast.
The open plan living area has generous, comfortable sofas around the log fire. There is a good size coffee table, which is ideal for playing cards or one of the numerous board games available. There is a CD player, and a trunk full of games and puzzles, and plenty of books and magazines. The chalet also has wi-fi internet for those who cant leave the office behind, or want to keep in touch with home.
The kitchen also has patio doors to the balcony and a serving area to the dining area. The kitchen is fitted with a dishwasher, spacious fridge freezer, built-in oven and hob and is fully equipped with everything you will need for a self catering holiday, including a kettle, toaster, microwave, food processor and fondu set.
Also on this level is a large single bedroom, with a wardrobe, chest of drawers and wash basin. This proves ideal for anyone unable to or not wishing to climb the stairs very often. There is also a separate WC.
Stairs lead to the lower floor which has two comfortably-furnished double bedrooms and one twin bedroom each with a wardrobe and storage space. The larger double room has French windows leading onto the patio. There is also a bathroom with a twin basin and bath, with a shower attachment. There is also underfloor heating for those chillier mornings!
The real luxury of the chalet is the heated 30ft pool and large sauna. The water is automatically heated, filtered and cleaned using an ultra-violet light system, fortunately meaning very little chlorine is needed. There is a pool-side sitting area with and a large shower unit. The pool room is glazed down one side with views onto the garden and up the mountains. There are doors onto the terrace and garden, which is idyllic in summer.
The ’studio’, with its own separate entrance, has two sets of full-size bunk-beds and an en-suite washroom with WC. There is also a chest of drawers and a hi-fi. It is ideal for older children who want a little independence from parents – or vice versa!
The chalet and garden offer glorious views of the surrounding valley and mountains and is a wonderfully restful place. The private garden is bordered by trees and shrubs and there is a large patio with a table and benches for al fresco eating in summer and it is ideal for barbecues and sunbathing. La Taupiniere is level to the quiet cul-de-sac road and has a parking area for two cars.
The chalet is in a superb and beautiful location for all mountain activities including skiing, mountain biking, walking, as well as golf, paragliding, tennis or just for relaxing. There is plenty to do within an hour’s drive of the chalet, more than enough to keep you amused for the duration of your stay. |
