This superbly situated Penthouse apartment is in Oceanico\'s Estrela da Luz complex in the quaint fishing village of Luz in the Western Algarve. The Apartment, the Resort and the Algarve provide all the facilities for your exciting, interesting and relaxing stay. Professionally decorated and furnished to the highest standards it has ample space for its occupancy and with its three balconies gives a choice of sun from morning to evening. The main balcony is spacious and fully furnished for dining and the back balcony is great for relaxing with a beer and a book in the evening.
The bedrooms are spacious with good storage, the master bedroom has a four poster queen and the other two rooms have twin singles. There is air conditioning in all the rooms and the main living area, and the electric roller shutters keep the place extra cool if needed and provides solitude for those needing to catch up on sleep or just get over a good night on the town. Underfloor heating keeps the place warm in the cooler evenings of the low season.
The Resort boasts 2 outdoor pools, one specifically for adults, a childrens pool and an indoor pool. The resort also has such amenities as a poolside snack bar, The Hugo Beaty bar (WiFi available in the bar) and resturant, a gym, jacuzzi, sauna, adjacent facilities for vollyball, tennis and football not to forget the famous spa. The Hugo Beatty Bar and Restaurant with its friendly staff is great for food or a beer and revellers can extend the night with a chat or a choice of pool or other games in the games room.
The picturesque village of Praia da Luz is ideal for those who want a relaxing beach holiday, or those looking for tranquillity and the chance to experience real Portuguese life. With a long history of fishing, its golden sandy beach is lined with small restaurants offering delicious cuisine.
Faro international airport is 50 minutes away via the A22 motorway. The seven world class Oceanico golf courses are within 40 minutes drive, and local golf, as well as other attractions such as Zoomarine, Slide & Splash and Lagos Zoo, are also easily accessible.

This area of the Algarve offers a range of climate depending on time of year to suit all needs, Spring, Early Summer and Autumn offers a more moderate temperature which is just made for golf, mountain safaris and sightseeing. In Luz, the months of June, July and August never get too hot due to the magnificent sea breeze and September and October are balmy and my favourite times. November, December and January are cool and quiet but are still excellent for Golf and the New years party at Estrela da Luz is a bash and a half.
The Algarve is a haven for golf and the area around Luz has Boavista five minutes up the road, with Palmares, Parque de Floresta and Penina all within 20 minutes and all are championship standard. The resort reception will arrange golf trips at discounted rates for guests.

The area surrounding Luz offers the more adventurous a range of sightseeing and dining experiences to explore. There are a number of small towns and wonderful beaches to be investigated to the west of Luz, some of the towns are Burgau, Sagres and Cape Vincent. Back east towards Faro one can visit the more familiar names such as Alvor, Carvoeiro, Portimao, Albufeira and past Faro to Olhado, Tavira, Lago and the Spanish border. I would have to recommend a drive into some of the surrounding rural villages for lunch or dinner and a craft of wine all of which is easy on the pocket.

| How to get there |
All the main airlines; Ryanair, Aer Lingus, Globespan.com, Flybe.com and Easy Jet fly to Faro.
Car hire is available at Faro Airport and it takes approximately 50 minutes to 1 hour on the A22 to Luz. Full directions from Faro to the Apartment are available on request. It is not essential to have a car while at Estrela da Luz but if intending to visit the Golf Courses it is advisable.
Alternatively a Taxi from the Faro costs in the region of €80 and can be arranged by the owner for the arriving guests - assuming sufficient advance notice is given.
Similarly all the usual airlines and more fly into Lisbon which is 2.5 to 3 hours by car to the complex and in this case car hire is advisable. Again full directions will be provided on request.

Further details indoors: Then kitchen is fully fitted and equipped for self catering and with a large dining table for 6 in the living area the option of cooking and dining-in makes for a great change when one needs a home cooked meal or simply want the group together for a long chat over good wine.
There is also a spacious mezzanine area with a pull out couch which could sleep a 7th or 8th person.
The Apartment has the usual TV, Satellite Box, DVD Player and Stereo system.
The en-suite is with the main bedroom and the two other rooms share bathroom facilities.
The Apartment is situated only a lift ride away from Reception, the Indoor Pool, the Gym / Spa, Sauna, Jacuzzi, the Hugo Beaty Restaurant and the Car Park which has a designated parking space provided for those renting a car.
Additional cleaning and linen services are available from reception or you can do it yourself with the equipment provided in the apartment, which includes a central vacuum system. |
Further details outdoors: The resort provides ample room with loungers for sunbathing and has two levels; the higher one with a pool for adults who want a quiet area and the lower level with an adult and kiddies pool for families. Then indoor pool is heated and has an adjacent Jacuzzi and Sauna. Resort passes and towels are available for a small fee from reception.
The gym and fitness room are state of the art and the gym is free for guests. Various classes are run in the fitness room and booking is all done at reception.
Broadband and Internet services are available in the Hugo Beatty Restaurant for guests and there are a couple of computers provided.
Taxis can be arranged at reception on request for all trips. |

We found your apartment a great place for a vacation. Attempting to get away from a hectic travelling schedule we cooked in a lot and found your front balcony and living area excellent for family dining and had many a long conversations until the moon rose on Luz bay and the kids were carried to bed.
