Home description

La maison Jaune is a fermette of torchis construction (like wattle and dorb) that has been reonvated to provide ample, comfortable accommodation for 9 people with all the comforts of home while retaining the rustic charm.
Set in a hamlet, the location is quiet but with easy access to numerous fantastic beaches (30 minutes drive) and many other attractions to suit the whole family - Bagatelle amusement park (30 mins drive), Aqualud water park (40 mins.), Agincourt, Crecy, Somme battlefields, numerous fantastic restaurants etc., etc.

The Northern France region

The opal coast from Calais to the bay of Somme has huge, golden beaches.
Behind this coast is the beautiful Seven Valleys area, including the wonderful Authie valley where you'll find our house 25 km inland.
There are plenty of family activities - amusement park, water parks, rope trails as well as more gentile places to visit - historic battlefields like Crecy (8km), Agincourt (25km) and the Somme (60km), beautiful gardens (Valloires 5km). Restaurants and auberges are dotted through the valleys as are farms selling local produce. The Authie river provides plenty of chance to fish or canoe and the beaches offer numerous wind sports.

Montreuil-sur-mer area

The house is set in a hamlet with just a café, but there is a baker/shop and a restuarant 2 km away.
The charming market town of Hesdin is 10 km away providing a reasonably large supermarket and many local shops/restaurants.
Historic Montreuil is 25 km away where the sons et lumieres production of Les Miserables is performed every summer.
Berck is the nearest beach (25 km).
Chic Le Touquet is 40 minutes drive.
Venice-like Amiens is 1 hour away with its stunning cathedral.
The Bay of Somme is a haven for birdwatchers.
