| Lucca Bagni Di Lucca area |
Considering its walled magnificence, the ancient capital of the province, Lucca, is still comparatively unspoilt by the tourist invasion. Within its walls there are no modern buildings to be seen.
If you feel you need to leave the comfort of the house and pool, apart from Lucca and the other major tourist attractions of Pisa, Florence, Siena and San Gimignano, the whole area has many exciting places to visit.
There is Forte dei Marmi, the highly fashionable resort town of the Versilian Riviera and her popular rivals of Viareggio and Pietrasanta.
There is the incredible spectacular scenery of the numerous secret mediaeval hill top villages and towns.
Also there are lakes and protected National Parks as well as the famous spa towns of Bagni di Lucca, where the Brownings, Shelley and Byron used to holiday, and Montecatini Terme, where the waters have been taken for centuries and are highly recommended for liver and skin ailments.
There is a magnificent choice of Restaurants in the area, from the sophisticated and highly regarded “La Mora”, which features in all the major guide books, to the excellent local Restaurants, Trattoria and Pizzeria, where for a few pounds you can enjoy the region’s many delightful specialities.
Within 5 km of the house are four excellent restaurants.
One of these specialises in fish while the others offer superb meat and home made pasta dishes.

Further details indoors: The arrangement of the beds and bedrooms makes “I Cipressi” ideal for both family or friends sharing a holiday.
On both the first and second floors there are 2 bedrooms, one twin and one double.
All 4 bedrooms are well furnished with dressing tables, side tables and masses of wardrobe space.
On the ground floor, the dining room, which together with the sitting room, was lovingly fashioned from the original stables, has enormous beams spanning the two rooms.
It has a magnificent handmade chestnut dining table which seats eight people comfortably.
Full central heating is available for the cooler months and, it has to be said, snuggling up in front of a cosy acacia log fire in the sitting room as you play one of the board games or cards, is a most enjoyable way of spending your time during the darker autumn and winter evenings. |
Further details outdoors: At the rear of the house is the magnificent 12 x 6 metres private swimming pool which is sunk into the hill, the views in all directions over the surrounding countryside are absolutely breathtaking.
Loungers and deckchairs are available for sun seekers. Shade is provided at the pool by the wisteria covered pergola and from the umbrella pines.
The pool is in the sun all day, from the early morning through to the evening, when glorious sunsets silhouette the distant Apuan Alps.
If you wish to continue swimming after dark, the pool can be illuminated.
Beneath the canopy of the charming listed barn shelters a full sized table tennis table.
Bats and balls are supplied.
In front of the listed barn there is an attractive stone barbecue with traditional oven type chimney.
No holiday is complete until you have experienced cooking over charcoal. Try enormous Florentine steaks sprinkled with minced fresh garlic and black pepper.
From the garden swing outside the sitting room, the South facing view across the valley to Gioviano is quite stunning.
All bedrooms and the middle bathroom have views over the valley and the vista from the swimming pool in all directions is breathtaking.

“This most excellent Tuscan farmhouse - what a joy. Having visited and stayed in Italy many times, especially at our favourite, Bagni di Lucca, this must rate as the loveliest holiday home we have ever stayed at. The views will be imprinted forever. Looking forward to our return here”
The B. Family of Bearstead, Kent.
“I Cipressi was well up to our expectations and was well furnished, well equipped, clean, comfortable and charming. The swing chair on the patio was an ideal spot to doze off on a warm afternoon, and lunch overlooking the spectacular view, was a frequent pleasurable event. Full marks also for the Information Book which should be an industry benchmark and the large number of maps, guides, etc. which were very useful. The pool was excellent and immaculately maintained.”
Mr. M. of Sheffield.
“From the exquisite scent of the wisteria by the pool to the yellow rose by the parking space, we loved the beautiful experience of “I Cipressi”. From the haunting mist in the valley in the mornings to the glorious sunsets in the evenings, we loved it. The view across to the mountain village of Gioviano will remain in our memories forever.”
Mrs. C. of Porthcawl.
“We now have many photographs to prove to our friends that we were certainly not exaggerating when we described the house as ‘heaven on earth’! Many thanks.”
Mrs. W. of Cambridge.
“I must say you have thought through the whole process of comfortable living very carefully. This care is evident the whole way through the booking process, the arrival process, the living process right down to switches being to hand right where you expect them to be. Congratulations on a five star dwelling.”
Mr. P. of Haddenham, Bucks.
“We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our holiday at ‘I Cipressi’, you have a really lovely house in a beautiful setting.”
Mrs. H. of Braine Le Chateau, Belgium.
“We were delighted with the house and the location and very impressed with the way you had thought of everything for the comfort of your visitors. We found the Information Book most useful and took up many of your recommendations on restaurants.”
Mrs. R. – J. of Gwynedd.
“There is always an element of danger in returning to the same place for the second year running – expectations are usually very high. We were not disappointed. The house, facilities and grounds are of the usual high standard
Mr. B. of Sanderstead, Surrey.
“The perfect retreat – I wish we could stay all summer.”
The P. family of London.
“If only we were able to stay for one more week. Alas we must return home but we have promised ourselves we will come again. ‘I Cipressi’ is a little bit of heaven here on earth.”
Mrs. E. of Cardiff.
