| The Tuscany region |
|
Tuscany is considered the most varied and beautiful region of Italy. The typical Chianti area is taken as an example of the Tuscan countryside, but there are also other areas, just as beautiful, with milder hills, with a totally different countryside, such as south of the Siena area, some wilder, such as the Maremma, or mountainous, where there is a proper skiing resort (Abetone), north of Florence. The coastline is also considered one of the most unspoilt and beautiful in Italy : with sand, pebble and rocky beaches from the fashionable sandy beaches of Forte di Marmi area right down to the breathtaking views and rocky beaches of Monte Argentario, in the southern Grosseto area. The outstanding islands such as Elba, Giglio, Montecristo, Capraia, etc.which are part of the Arcipelago Toscano, can be reached easily from here with ferry-boats (leaving from Livorno or Piombino), complete the most staggering picture of this...miraculous Tuscan Region !

| Florence area |
Florence is the capital of the Renaissance art, where it all started...it encouraged and produced the excellency of its time, some of the worlds best and most famous artists, to this day. Florence is considered one of the most beautiful towns in Italy with Venice and Rome. Every historical palace in the town centre has so much history and so much intrigue to talk for itself... Michelangelo's David, the 'Ponte Vecchio' and Botticelli's 'Primavera', are just a few of Florence's world renowned attractions. Dante Alighieri, who wrote the Divine Comedy, is a definite milestone of the Italian and world literature, belonging to humankind.
As for local 'happenings', there are lots of cultural events and interesting exhibitions all year round, including local traditional foods and craftmanship fairs named "sagre" and "fiere" ,etc.
Apart for its world known, excellent, Chianti wines and the best Extra Virgin Olive Oil, the area close by is famous for its terracotta vases, of all shapes and decorated glazed plates(Montelupo)and glass(Empoli), which date back to the Etruscan times(5th-6th cent.BC).
Apart from Florence, Siena, Lucca, Arezzo, Pisa, which are the larger and culturally important towns of Tuscany, other smaller, if not(in some cases), more beautiful, quaint towns(such as S.Gimignano, Volterra, or the whole of the Val d'Orcia area), deserve daily trips !
When you come over and visit Florence in peak seasons such as Spring and Summer, remember to book ahead of time your entance to the museums of Florence, from any part of the world, through this number: (+39)055.29.48.83
If you need guided tours to the Florence museums we can organize them at a reasonable cost.
I have a long experience in wine and e.v. olive oil production (ex-family concern) and organize wine and cultural tours in the Chianti and Brunello areas, on request.

| Guestbook |
" A wonderful, beautiful setting in the hills of Tuscany, at the end of a gravel road. A comfortable, clean living space in a very authentic series of rolling hills. Excellent location for access to Florence and surrounding countryside. Our hosts were extremely helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.
We would be glad to return at any time. (Peter Scholnick -USA)
