For those who like walking, there are many possibilities and you will enjoy the walk along the seaside from Elounda to Placa of ca. 5km. Archaeological remains can be found at the Minoan city of Gournia (ca. 30km) the only excavated Minoan city or the third Minoan Palace of Malia (ca. 35km). There are also orthodox monasteries worth visiting for example in Areti, Kritsa and Toplou. The Iraklion International Airport is located at ca. 75km.
