It has been beautifully decorated with modern, designer furniture and fabrics. In the garden and poolside there are sunloungers, dining tables and chairs a good size built in bbq for long summer evenings relaxing and eating on the terrace by the pool.
The combined lounge / dining room has large comfortable leather sofas perfect for flopping into and watching television or a DVD. On the upstairs landing there is a small but perfectly formed office space with internet connection and laptop. All three bedrooms have their own ensuite bathroom and the upstairs bedrooms enjoy a terrace with views over the development towards the nature reserve. The upstairs triple bedroom has a TV and Playstation 3 games console. The master bedroom has a king size bed, ample wardrobes, direct access to the terrace with outdoor sofas – relax, read a book and watch the sunset.

In the villa is a well stocked folder with all the details of the attractions so you can read at leisure and book you choices. Before departure for your holiday we provide an e-book with lots of information about the Algarve and Golden Triangle so you start planning your holiday.
The local area has a huge variety of activities to interest the whole family. Options include horse riding, fishing, yachting/sailing, champagne cruises, shark & dolphin watching, 4x4 safari tours and cultural visits.
In Almancil there is a karting track if you need to burn off that adrenalin. There is also an Aqua Park (10 mins drive on the other side of Quateria) and a Swim With Dolphins experience and Theme Park (30 mins drive on the motorway).
Faro town is a 15 minute drive. There is a large shopping centre (the Forum) that offers good facilities for supermarket and retail shopping. Faro Old Town has an interesting history and several historic landmarks worth investigating. There is a lovely harbour with restaurants dotted about. In Almancil (5 min drive) is a beautiful church with wonderful mosiacs that is open to the public. Quarteria & Loule both boast excellent markets that sells both fresh produce and local made prodcuts.
From Varandas Do Lago about 3/4 mile down the main road towards Vale Do Lobo are another good selection of restaurants including the Sao Gabriel - a Michelin star restaurant and the Thai Garden restaurant also highly recommended. I also recommend the several 'beach shack' restaurants collectively known as 'Julias', a 3 minute drive from the villa located on the Ancao beach where celebrity spotting is a favourite pastime.
The Quinta do Lago Shopping Centre is about a mile down the road, here there are many exclusive designers shops and some lovely restaurants/cafes. There is also a Italian restaurant that delivers pizza and pasta (and a bottle of wine) to the villa for those nights that you just can't be bothered to cook.
Restaurants and Entertainment
The dining options in Quinta do Lago are extensive, with each resort complex offering restaurants and entertainment, and a shopping centre in the middle of the development offers some upmarket restaurants and the more mid range cuisine. Dining options include Casa do Lago Overlooking two of the lakes in Ria Formosa.
Beaches
A man-made lake offers just every watersport imaginable, and, as well as the first-class golf facilities, other activities include horse-riding, tennis, squash and clay pigeon shooting. The beach at Quinta do Lago is reached by crossing a long bridge over an estuary in the Ria Formosa Nature Park, and the lovely golden sands stretch along the coast to Vale do Lobo. The sandstone cliffs provide a beautiful backdrop to the wonderful sandy beach, which is excellent for both relaxing sunbathing and enjoying energetic family games. A convenient bar/restaurant serves up refreshments and meals, including freshly caught fish, right on the beach. Boat trips are available from the beach at Quinta do Lago, and its' possible to charter a yacht, or venture out on a deep-sea fishing trip.
PRAIA DE GARRÃO beach fronts the chic area of the holiday resorts known as Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo. This beach can now be easily reached by road and one area popular for its beach restaurants is a section know as "Julias" - a local lady and a character who opened the first beach place at the time when access was either by horse or by a very sandy road through the pine trees.
The Natural Park of Ria Formosa starts in the ANCÃO Beach. The Beach has an extensive sandy area and a vast area with dunes. It is well known for its famous upper class frequency, the so called Portuguese Jet Set can be seen wining and dining at the famous GiGi's restaurant. The Beach is a beautiful sandy beach of unquestionable environmental quality, the area is surrounded by the Ancão Valley which is natural forest mainly of pine trees and dune vegetation.
Concern for the environment is the focus of special attention at Quinta do Lago. To maintain the delicate ecological balance within the estate, which is flanked by the Ria Formosa Natural Park, stringent regulations have been implemented by Quinta do Lago SA. A strict, low density master-plan allows for only eight percent of construction of the total area of the estate, ensuring plenty of green space. Private villas, townhouses and village developments are carefully integrated into natural areas, nestling at lakeside, secluded by woodland or flanking the golf courses.
The tidal inlet area that is part of the Ria Formosa is recognized as a wetland of world importance and a natural habitat for rare and endangered species of migrating or nesting birds (IBA - Important Bird Area).
A wide variety of species, as well as other wildlife, can be observed in their natural habitats along Quinta do Lago's two nature trails which were established to allow residents and visitors to fully appreciate the beauty of the natural landscape in an organized way.
Since its formative years Quinta do Lago has worked closely with the Ria Formosa Natural Park administration to protect the flora and fauna and to integrate high quality touristic development with the environment. This has been achieved with an eco-friendly programme of landscape and garden maintenance aimed at preserving the delicate ecological balance.
